To achieve this, CHILDCARE will promote the collaboration across different medical professionals as well as between Paediatricians and citizens by providing teleconference solutions and added value services. CHILDCARE focuses on developing a technologically innovative platform for continuous monitoring, consultation, prevention and treatment of children's diseases. CHILDCARE concentrates in bringing together telemedicine sessions and collaboration services and enhance this combination with intelligent features such as knowledge management techniques, data retrieval and multifunctional interfaces. CHILDCARE is expected to prove the potential of Telemedicine to incorporate intelligent categorization of certified medical content and customised delivered information. Objectives of the projectScientific and Technological quality and innovation The aim of CHILDCARE is to develop an Intelligent Collaborative Healthcare Platform geared towards the continuity of care for children. CHILDCARE concentrates in bringing together telemedicine sessions and collaboration services and enhance this combination with intelligent features such as knowledge management techniques, data retrieval and multifunctional interfaces. CHILDCARE is expected to prove the potential of Telemedicine to incorporate intelligent categorization of certified medical content, user profiling and customised delivered information in a cost-effective way. A key concept should be the provision of continuous care regardless the distance to the care system and the time when access is necessary. Access to CHILDCARE will be flexible and easy for all involved actors. Health experts and families will be able to communicate remotely with each other and exchange medical information through a secure platform. Particular emphasis will be placed on personalised delivery of information depending both on the needs/capabilities of the end-user groups and the distinct preferences of individuals. At the same time, the system will provide telemedicine services incorporating video and audio communication and real-time exchange of short text messages, reminders and alerts. Apart from the customisation of the user interface, the project will promote the use of multiple access devices. It will support both wire-line and wireless communication, enabling users to access its services through various network and device interfaces. Special focus will be placed on portable devices and lightweight interfaces, thus promoting mobility of the end-users.
